On September 1, 2008 Central State University will move from the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) to membership in the NCAA Division II.
Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Kellen Winslow Sr. will join the Central State University administration as Director of Athletics and Student Wellness in September.

Central State’s Check Honored by Athletic Directors Association
Dallas, Texas -- The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced the 29 winners of the AstroTurf AD of the Year Award (ADOY) today. Included in the honorees was Theresa A. Check, Director of Athletics at Central State University. She was honored as the Northeast Division II winner
Coaches to Attend NCAA Rules Semninar
• Al West,Head Football Coach, Trona Logan, Compliance Coordinator, Patricia Tramble,Head Women's Basketball Coach and Senior Woman Administrator, William Hargraves, Faculty Athletics Representative and Sheba Harris, assistant Women's Basketball Coach are attending the NCAA rules seminar in San Antonio, TX the first week of June. Their attendance is a mandatory part of the NCAA membership process. We will be notified this summer about our active membership status. This will take place after the annual report submitted by the Athletic Department is reviewed by the NCAA II Membership Committee.
Marauders Graduate at 56 Percent
The Central State University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that the Athletic graduation rate has improved to 56%. For the 2001-02 Freshman-Cohort, the Athletic Success Rate is almost twice that of the university Four-Class average.
